Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients

	3 c flour
	2 c sugar
	3/4 c cocoa
	2 t baking soda
	1/2 t salt
	2 eggs
	1 c sour or buttermilk (add 1 t lemon juice or vinigar to milk)
	2 t vanilla 1 c melted shortning
	1 c hot water.

	For rich cocolate flavor add-1 c melted semi-sweet chocolate chips
	1 packet hot chocolate mix
	4 T ovaltine


Instructions


Pre-heat oven to 350. In a large bowl, mix all ingredients in order as they appear in the recipe. (The last 3 ingredients are optional.)


Pour into greased & floured cake pan.


Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes or until toothpick or fork inserted in center comes out clean.




Serving Suggestions

Serve frosted or unfrosted.
