In large bowl of electric mixer, cream 2 cups sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and molasses and beat well.
Stir together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture a small amount at a time, beating well after each addition.
Form 1 inch balls, roll in sugar, place on ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart and bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 1 minutes or until lightly browned on bottom.
Makes about 8 dozen.
