     Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients
4 cups All Purpose Flour
4 T White Sugar
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 T Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup Butter, softened
1 3/4 cup Buttermilk
1 Egg
 
1/4 cup Butter, melted
1/4 cup Buttermilk

Instructions
Preheat oven 350 degrees. Lightly grease large baking sheet. Mix flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt and 1/2 cup butter. Stir in 1 cup buttermilk and egg.
Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface and knead slightly. Form dough into a round and place on prepared baking sheet.
In small bowl, combine melted butter and 1/4 cup buttermilk; brush loaf with mixture. Use sharp knife and cut an X into top of loaf.
Bake 45 minutes. (check 25-30 if oven cooks hot). Brush with butter and buttermilk mixture every 15 minutes.
