5 cups of plain flour
1/2 cup of vegetable shortening
1/4 cup of caster sugar
1 tablespoon of sea salt
2 1/2 cups of buttermilk
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1 cup of butter (plus 2 tablespoons for topping)
 

Instructions
Preheat oven to 220 degrees Celsius ... Dice butter into small pieces, place back into fridge.
Add flour, shortening, sugar, salt and buttermilk in a blender. Mix on a low speed until just combined. ... Add buttermilk and baking powder into blender, mix until combined.
Add butter and mix until butter is well dispersed. ... NOTE- The butter must remain as cold and hard as possible until the moment the biscuits go into the hot oven.
