Beat butter, vanilla, sugar and egg till smooth. (use a hand electric mixer) Stir in sifted dry ingredients. Stir in fruit,nuts and chocolate.
Place spoonfuls on baking paper on biscuit tray. Cook about 10 minutes in a moderate oven. Cookies will spread! Take out slightly underdone to have chewy middles - very delicious...
