Combine eggs (beat first) and sugar and beat again until sugar is dissolved. Add salt, vanilla and cream. Pour into gallon freezer. Add enough milk. Adjust top. Pack with 3 parts crushed ice, mixed with 1 part salt around outside of can. Freeze until mixture is firm. Drain. Remove dasher from freezer can and stir ice cream with a long-handled spoon. Put a small, clean cork in freezer can lid and pack ice cream with additional ice and salt.
