Preheat oven to 400 dgrees. Remove gizzards from turkey & keep cold for gravy. Rinse turkey inside & out with cold water, dry well with paper towels. Place in roasting pan.
Salt & pepper inside of cavity with 1/2 tsp salt & pepper. Stuff cavity with onion, carrots,orange halves, tyme & bay leaf. Tuck wings under bird & tie up turkey legs.
Season outside with remaining salt & pepper. Rub butter evenly over entire turkey. Insert a meat thermometer. Place uncovered in oven for 30 min, then reduce temp to 350 degrees. Combine broth & cider and baste over bird. Baste 3-4 times during cooking, if bird is getting dark loosely cover with foil. Cook until temp reaches 165 degrees(A 15 lb turkey takes aprox 3 hrs to cook)
Remove from oven and let rest 15 min loosely covered with foil. Carve & serve.
