Turn oven to 300 degrees. In a 2qt casserole beat egg, stir in sugar, vanilla and raisins. Add milk and rice. Sprinke spice on top. Dot with butter. Set casserole in a cake pan. Set in oven and add water to cake pan. Bake 1 1/2 hours uncovered.
