     Molasses Glazed Asparagus

Ingredients
1 bunch asparagus
1 pkg bacon
1/2 cup brown sugar
zest from one lemon
juice from one lemon
salt and pepper to taste
 

Instructions
Cut off about 1 1/2 inches off of the base of the asparagus. Blanche the asparagus in boiling water and then plunge them into ice water to stop the cooking. Remove the asparagus from the ice water and pat dry with a paper towel.
Cut the bacon strips in half and wrap a piece of bacon around each asparagus stalk. Place the asparagus on a baking sheet and sprinkle with the lemon juice.
Combine the lemon zest and brown sugar together in a small bowl. Squish the lemon zest into the brown sugar to help coat lemon essential oil onto the brown sugar.
Sprinkle the brown sugar all over the asparagus. Roll the asparagus in the sugar to coat them evenly if needed. Lightly spray the asparagus once the sugar is on them with vegetable oil. Place the oven rack in the center of the oven and turn the oven on broil. Broil the prepared asparagus for about 15 mins or until the bacon is cooked through.
