1 can (29 oz) sliced peaches, drain and reserve syrup
12-14 slices (1 inch thick) French bread
5 large eggs
1 1/2 cups whole milk
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
Over medium-low heat, stir brown sugar and butter until butter melts. Add water and cook until sauce is thick and foamy. Pour into a 13x9x2 in baking dish. Let cool 10 minutes.
Place peaches on top of sauce. Cover with bread, trimming bread to fit in one layer. Whisk together eggs, milk, and vanilla. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake, uncovered, 40 minutes or until set and golden brown, covering with foil last 10-15 minutes if browning to quickly.
Serve with warmed reserved peach syrup, if desired.
Makes 12-14 servings.
