     German chocolate cake

Ingredients
4oz bakers german sweet baking chocolate
1/2 c water
2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4tsp salt
1c butter softened
2 c sugar
4 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla
 
1 c buttermilk
4 egg whites

Instructions
Heat oven to 350. Line bottom of 3 9 inch cake pans with wax paper. Microwave chocolate and water in large microwaveable bowl on high 2 minutes or until chocolate is almos melted, stirring halfway through heating time. Stir until chocolate is completley melted
Mix flour, soda, salt and set aside. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with mixer on medium speed until fluffy. Add egg yolds one at a time, beating after each addition. Stir in chocolate mxture and vanilla. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating after each addition until smooth.
Beat egg whites in another arge bowl on high until stiff peaks form. Gently stir into batter. Pour into prepared pans
Bake 30 minutes, cool 15 minutes,, remove from pan. Spread cocnut pegan filling between layers and over cake.
