Mix berries, sugar and water in sauce pan and heat to boiling point Make a paste of corn starchand 1tbs cold water and add to berry mixture. cook 5 minutes. Pour into greased 8inch square pan and dot with butter.
Sift flour, salt, baking powder and sugar together. Cut shortening into dry ingredieints until texture is of coarse cornmeal. Add milk and mix until smooth.
Drop dough on fruit and bake in a preheated oven at 400 for 30 minutes or until crust is brown
