Category   Appetizers
Sub Category   None

Ingredients
1 lb. shredded Swiss cheese
2 Tbsp. flour
1/2 clove garlic
3/4 cup dry white table wine or dry vermouth
2 Tbsp. Kirsch or brandy
Dash nutmeg
Salt to taste

Instructions
Shake cheese and flour in small bag to mix. Rub inside of chafing dish with garlic. Pour in wine and heat until air bubbles rise to the surface; don't allow wine to boil. Slowly and gradually add cheese, stirring constantly until it melts. Stir in Kirsch, nutmeg, and salt when completely melted. Serve with cubes of sour dough french bread.
Serves 8 as an appetizer or a wonderful meal for two, served with green salad.
This fondue is served by Kevin and Diane at many of their parties and when important announcements are made. The recipie was copied from a book in a Berkeley bookstore and was first used by them to announce thier pinning to their sorority sisters and fraternity brothers at the University of California May 8, 1967. They made cheese fondue July 25, 1967 for a small Dougherty-McGinty barbeque party to announce their engagement to both families.
