Slice roots off onions. Slice onions about 4 inches up, reserving hollow parts for other uses.

Place onions on cheese slices and roll. Place on ham slices and roll. You must use Sargento cheese - other brands tend to crumble.

Try various sliced cheeses (or Cream Cheese). Also try bringing ingredients to room temperature and heating rolls in the oven or micro. until cheese melts.
