     Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
6 large cans (blue) Tuttorosa crushed tomato
2 large cans (blue) Tuttorosa tomato puree
1 very large onion, chopped very fine
16 cloves garlic, minced
1 c olive oil
1/4 c salt
1/2 c chopped fresh basil
1 tsp chopped fresh thyme or 1/4 tsp dried
 

Instructions
Heat olive oil in large pot; add the finely chopped onions and garlic. Saute until they are soft and golden; do not brown. Add the cans of crushed and pureed tomatoes, salt and herbs. Simmer slowly for 1-2 hours, stirring often so bottom does not burn.
If adding meatballs, add them about 1/2 hour into cooking time.
