In a large mixing bowl, cream butter. Gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and almond extract. Gradually blend in flour.
Divide dough as desired and add food coloring. Place onto cookie sheet, may be formed into various shapes, and decorated with colored sugar and candies
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
Note- Do NOT chill dough, use at room temperature. If dough becomes too soft, add 1 or 2 tbsp flour.
