Cream sugar and shortening, add egg and vanilla.
Sift dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Add cocoa dissolved in a little hot water.
Add chopped nuts.

Drop from teaspoon or small ice cream scoop 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake 350 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Do not overback or they will be on the dry side.
Cool on cake rack.

Cocoa Frosting goes well on these.
Mix cocoa, powder sugar,small amount of butter and 1 tsp vanilla
Add enough milk to make creamy & spreadable.
