Grease 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Bring water to boil and cook yams (with skin on) covered until tender.
Peel skin from each yam and slice into 1/4 inch thick slices. Place a single layer of potatoes into the greased baking dish.
Melt margarine, allspice, honey, and water over low heat. Set aside 2 Tblsp of margarine mixture. Mix nuts into the 2 Tblsp of margarine mixture.
Pour remaining margarine mixture over the potatoes and bake uncovered in 400 degree oven for 30 minutes. Add nuts and margarine on top and bake for 10 minutes more.
