Cream sugars and shortening. Add eggs,vanilla and hot water. Beat 2 minutes. Sift flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, and cloves. Add to batter. Stir in oatmeal, raisins, and nuts.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-11 minutes
