     Aunt marie's Almont Toast (Biscotti)

Ingredients
4/12 - 5 cups flour
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
6 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla or almond or anise extract
anise seed, almonds or other nuts are optional
 

Instructions
Sift together the flour and baking powder. Cream the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and extract. Mix well
Add the flour. Mix in the almonds.
Shape into three or four loaves on floured cookie sheets (you may need some extra flour because the dough might be sticky).
Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 – 20 minutes or until light brown. Remove from the oven and slice into ½ inch biscotti and place cut side down. Bake for another 15-20 minutes (turning over in between) or until golden brown.
