Place 3 cups mashed sweet potatoes, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup melted butter, 2 eggs, and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla in a bowl and blend well. Place in a greased 2-quart casserole dish.
Prepare topping by mixing 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Cut in 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup chopped pecans. Sprinkle topping on sweet potato mixture and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
