     Toffee Squares

Ingredients
1 cup margarine
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon salt
8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate melted over hot water
½ cup chopped nuts if desired
 

Instructions
Cream margarine. Add sugar gradually. Cream very well. Add yolk and vanilla blending well. Add flour and salt. Blend just enough to moisten flour.
Spread in rectangular 10 x 15 greased jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.
Spread with melted chocolate while toffee squares are hot. Cut immediately. Will need to be retraced when cooled. Makes 6 to 7 dozen
