Sift together flour, salt, sugar and baking powder. Beat egg light, combine with milk and add to dry ingredients, mixing lightly. Stir in melted butter.
Pour into greased shallow 9-inch square pan. Sprinkle top with mixture of 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 2 tsp margarine. Chopped nuts may be added, if desired.
