Remove sausage from casing, and brown well. Drain on paper towels. In a bowl,combine meat with onion, apples, and season with salt.
Fill each of the squash halves with the mixture, and place in you crock pot, or slow cooker. Add about 1/4 cup of water, cover, and cook on low for 6 hours, or untill the squas is tender. Serve with hot rice, or mashed potatoes.
