Bring a large kettle of water to a boil. Cut asparagus in half discard tough stems. Add asparagus to boiling water. cook uncovered 2-3 minutes. Drain & rinse with cold water.
In a saucepan melt butter and add sesame seeds. Stir fry for 4 - 5 minutes or until seeds are lighty browned. Add asparagus, soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper and garlic. Toss gently, cooking 2 more minutes or until heated through.
