     Baked French Toast

Ingredients
12 slices of low-calorie whole wheat bread
2 cups 1% milk
1 1/2 cups egg substitute
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
pinch of salt
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp. softened butter
 

Instructions
Spray 8 inch square baking pan with nonstick spray. Place bread in 4 equal stacks in baking dish (it will be tight). Whisk milk, egg, vanilla, cinnamon and salt in medium bowl. Slowly pour egg mixture over bread, pressing down bread to cover and spooning egg mixture over any uncoated bread. Cover and chill up to 1 day
To serve, preheat oven to 350. Mix brown sugar and butter in a small bowl with a fork until smooth; spread evenly over bread. Bake about 1 hour until hot and knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on rack 20 minutes; cut into 6 pieces. Serve with 1/4 cup maple syrup.
