     Tomato Sauce for Pasta

Ingredients
1/2 large onion
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 28-oz whole canned tomatoes
1 14 ounce can Italian diced tomatoes (optional)
1/2 teaspoon oregano
2 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon basil or 2 teaspoons fresh basil chopped
1/4 teaspoon thyme, marjoram
1/4 teaspoon dried chili flakes
 
2 Tablespoons honey
1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
In a large skillet, cook onion in olive oil over medium/low heat. Add garlic. Cook until translucent and soft. Add tomatoes. Bring to boil. Add herbs and seasonings/spices. Simmer 1/2 hour or longer if needed.
Boil, cook and drain pasta as directed. Melt butter in hot pasta pot. Add sauce to butter. Add honey. Add cheese to sauce.
Add pasta (4-6 servings) to sauce and coat well. Serve and sprinkle with additional parmesan cheese.
This sauce can be used with Vegetarian Lasagna.
Serving Suggestions
Feel free to use the amounts of herbs that you want, more or less.
