     Hamburger Soup

Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef
2 tbsp olive oil or salad oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp basil
1/8 tsp savory
1 envelope onion soup mix
6 cups boiling water
 
1 - 8 oz can tomato sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 cup diagonally sliced celery
1/4 cup diced celery leaves
1 cup sliced carrot
1/3 cup dried split peas
1 cup elbow macaroni, uncooked
Grated parmesan cheese

Instructions
Brown meat in oil in a large saucepan with a tight fitting lid. Add salt, pepper, oregano, basil, savory and onion soup mix. Stir in boiling water, tomato sauce, and soy sauce. Cover and simmer about 15 minutes.
Add celery, celery leaves (both can be left out) and carrot to simmering mixture and continue to cook for 30 minutes. Add peas and macaroni and simmer for 30 additional minutes, adding more water if necessary. Top with parmesan cheese to serve.
