Mix all cake ingredients together. Place in 2 lightly greased 8-inch cake pans or one 13-inch by 9-inch pan and bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes for layer cake and about 45 minutes for other. Test doneness with toothpick in center.
For icing, mix all ingredients well. Spread on cooled cake.
