Heat olive oil in large stock pot over medium heat. Add next five ingredients and saute until tender - about 5 -7 minutes. Add next five ingredients. Simmer about 10 minutes. Add basil, wine and water and stir.
If using mussels or clams, add to sauce and simmer until shells open. If using cooked meatballs, add to sauce and simmer 5-7 minutes.

This fantastic sauce goes with almost anything - mussels, clams, shrimp, meatballs, grilled chicken breasts, etc. Serve it over pasta or rice.
