Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add salt, sugar and 2 cups flour. Beat till smooth. Stir in remaining flour too form a soft dough. Turn onto floured surface; knead 6-8 minutes till smooth. Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease. Let rise in warm place till doubled, about 1 hour. Punch dough down. Turn onto lightly floured surface; divide in half. Shape into 12 inch long loaves. Place seam side down on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise till doubled, about 30 minutes. Sprinkle with cornmeal. With a sharp knife, make four shallow slashes across the top of each loaf. Bake at 450 degrees 15-20 minutes till golden brown.
