Pare apples, cut in eighths, and arrange in 9 inch piecrust-lined piepan. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar mixed with cinnamon. Sift remaining 1/2 cup sugar with flour, cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 450 for 10 minutes, then at 350 for 45 minutes until apples are tender.
