Place 1 sliced onion in bottom of pot. Stud meat with cloves, season with salt and pepper and place on top. Cover with another sliced onion. Add enough water to fill pot up to 2/3 mark. Cook on low 8-12 hours.
Remove roast, discard cloves, bone, fat, onions, water and grease. When meat is cool, shred. Return to crock pot, add BBQ sauce, and heat on HIGH for 1-3 additional hours.
For additional taste, feel free to add Worcestershire Sauce, ketchup, brown sugar or mustard when BBQ sauce goes in.
