     Dixie Spice Cake w/Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
1 cup buttermilk (substitute info below)
2/3 cup shortening
 
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 eggs
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Cream Cheese Frosting- 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 pkg. (8oz) cream cheese
1/4 cup butter
1-2 TBSP milk
2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease and flour bottom only of 9x13 inch pan. In large bowl, combine all ingredients except nuts at low speed until moistened; beat 3 minutes at medium speed. Stir in nuts. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly in center. Cool completely.
Frosting- Cream the butter and cream cheese together with electric mixer. Add the rest of the ingredients until smooth. Spread over cooled cake. Enjoy!!!
Tips- To substitute for buttermilk- use 1 TBSP vinegar or lemon juice plus milk to make 1 cup.
