Beat shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. Blend in flour, soda and salt; then stir in chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls,l 2 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned.
