1 bag baking apples, unpeeled, shredded on a box grater
1/2-1 cup water (depending on how juicy your apples are)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
juice of a lemon, optional
1 box of cake mix (white or yellow)
1/2 cup butter, sliced into pats
Instructions
Mix apples, water, cinnamon and lemon juice. Place in foil lined D.O. Pour 1 box cake mix on top. Put pats of butter on top. Cover and cook for 45-60 minutes until apples are cooked.
I was offered a sample of this as I came across the bridge over the creek...I got the recipe the next day, lost it, got it several more times, now if I loose it somebody can send it back to me! Things don't seem to survive when I take them into the creek with me~LOL. Of course, this was also the year my juniors and PAs left me sliding back into the creek in front of a unit of brownies who laughed themselves sick!
