     Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
 
sugar

Instructions
Beat butter and peanut butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add sugars, beating well. Add eggs, beating well. Combine flour, soda and salt in a medium bowl; add to batter mixture, beating well. Stir in vanilla. Cover and chill 3 hours. Shape into 1 1/4 inch balls; place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Dip a fork in additional sugar; flatten cookies in a crisscross design. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
