Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Rub one tablespoon of butter on the
bottom of a two-quart cooking dish. Overlap the potatoes in three
layers sprinkling each layer with salt and cheese. Pour the half-and-
half over the potatoes just enough to cover all the potatoes then dot
the top with the rest of the butter. Bake in the middle of the oven
for 45 minutes. Spoon the heavy whipping cream over the top layer.
Then continue to bake for 45 mins or until golden brown.
