Applesauce Toast- Spread a generous layer of applesauce over hot buttered toast.
Cinnamon Toast- Mix cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle over buttered toast for breakfast or a woodland tea.
Chocolate Toast- Use cocoa mixed with sugar instead of cinnamon.
Orange Toast- Moisten sugar with orange juice and mix with grated orange rind. SPread on toast and use for a special breakfast cookout.
Pineapple Toast- spread crushed pineapple over buttered toast and serve as a dessert. This is extra special with raisin bread.
Apricot Marshmallow Toast- soak 1/2 lb dried apricots overnight and stewin the same water until tender. Drain, press through a sieve, add 4 Tbsp sugar and heat. Spread on buttered toast, place a marshmallow in the center of each piece, and tilt before an open fire until the marshmallows are brown. (The apricot mixture can be cooked in advance and placed in a jar until ready to use).
