Cream together margarine and sugar.Add eggs and blend well.Sift together flour,baking soda and cream of tarter. Add to the cremed mixture,Add vanilla. Chill dough for up to 2 hours. Divide in half -roll out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into shapes as desired. Place on ungreased cookie sheet-leave about 2 inches between cookies.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.I bake mine until they are very light brown-if you want them crispier,bake a few min. longer. Remove and place on cooling rack.Frost with favorite frosting.
I could never make rolled out sugar cookies.Then my sister gave me the recipe she uses.Turns out the wonderful lady lives right down the road from me. I have thanked her for the recipe.
