Mix flour, salt and sugar. Add sufficient water to make a thick, creamy batter. Stir in vinegar and put in a pail or bowl. Let it remain in a warm place for 2 days so it can sour.

For bread- Take half of hte sour dough and thicken it with more flour until it is of a consistency to knead. Knead thoroughly and work into small loaves. Place before the fire and let the loaves rise for about 1 1/2 hours. Bake in reflector oven.

For Biscuits- Add flour to 1/2 of the sour dough in the same was as with bread. Roll out biscuits and bake them in a reflector oven.

This sour dough is a time saver for campers. It is easy to manipulate and will supply yeast for cakes and bread. Sour dough can be kept going by adding more flour, salt, sugar and water in proportion to the recipe as the basic supply needs replenshing. It improves with age.
