1. Place peeled, cored & finely chopped apples in slow cooker. In a medium bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, cloves & salt. Pour mixture over the apples.
2. Cover & cook on high for 1 hour.
3. Reduce heat to love & cook 9 to 11 hours, stirring occationally, until the mixture is thickened & dark brown.
4. Uncover & continue cooking on low for 1 hour. Stir w/ a whisk to increase smoothness.
5. Spoon the mixture into sterile containers, cover & refrigerate or freeze.
