Melt oleo and brown sugar. Cool. Beat in vanilla. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into mixture and add nuts if desired. Pour into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until firm when touched. Cut into bars.
