Thinly coat bottom of saucepan with EVOO - put in garlic and meat and stir with wooden spoon to lightly brown.
Then, add tomato sauce, spices, sugar, 1- 1/2 can of water (what the pureed tomatoes were in) and bring to a gentle rolling boil (usually medium or medium high), stiring making sure not to burn tomatoes or meat. It so, turn down so that it boils, bue does not burn. Let boil for about 30-45 minutes.
Then turn down to a low simmer and let cook for a long as you need too - the longer the more tender the meat. Dueing this time you can make garlic bread, salad and prepare pot to boil macaroni.
