     Sugar Cream Pie

Ingredients
1 (9-inch) pie shell, baked
1 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. half an half
5 T. cornstarch
1tsp. vanilla
Yellow food coloring, a drop or two for color, optional
6 T. butter
freshly grated nutmeg
 

Instructions
Preheat oven at 325F,
Mix sugar cornstarch half n half and salt in saucepan. Cook to boiling point. Add vanilla food coloring if using and the butter. Return to heat.
Cook stirring constantly until thickened. If any lumps put through a find seive. Pour mixture into pie shell and sprinkle with nutmeg.
Bake at 325 for 35-45 mins or until firm and lightly browned.
Serving Suggestions
Put whip cream on finished pie when serving individual pieces.
