     Mom's Hot Fudge Sauce/Frosting

Category   Desserts - Breads
Sub Category   None
Servings   1
Preptime   5 minutes

Ingredients
1Tablespoon butter
1 ounce (square) unsweetened baking chocolate
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 Tablespoons milk

Instructions
Multiply this recipe to meet your needs. This makes hot fudge sauce for one generous-sized sundae. To make frosting for a Bundt cake, multiply the ingredients by 3 or 4 and reduce the amount of milk slightly.
Melt the butter and chocolate in a sauce pan. Add powdered sugar, salt and vanilla and a little of the milk and stir until smooth. Add as much of the milk to make the consistency you desire. Let bubble for a minute or two. The longer it cooks, the chewier/harder the sauce gets (eventually it will become like fudge).
This makes a quick and delicious topping for hot fudge sundaes and an easy, glossy, poured-on frosting for any kind of cake. You can experiment with the amount of milk you add and the length of time you let the mixture boil to find the consistency you prefer. Enjoy!
Short cut--If you are not trying to make a perfect dessert for a special occasion, you don't have to sift the powdered sugar. If you stir it vigorously (I prefer to use a flat-edged spatula for the mixing), you will probably get out any lumps in the powdered sugar, and it will taste just as delicious.
Serving Suggestions
Great for hot fudge sundaes, easy poured-on cake frosting, or even fudge (just mix in some nuts).
