Bring 2 1/2 c. water, 1/2 c. each toasted pecans and maple syrup, 1/4 c. brown sugar, 1 t. each vanilla and lemon juice, and a pich of salt to a boil, then simmer, reducing to 3/4 c., about 40 mins. Strain and let cool. Garnish with the pecans.
