     Cherokee Casserole

Ingredients
1 Pound.Ground Beef
3/4 Cup Chopped Onion
1/2 Teaspoon Oregano
1 Bay Leaf, Crushed
1/2 Teaspoon Each - Garlic Powder, Thyme
2 Cups Canned Tomatoes
1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 Cup Minute Rice
1/2 Cup Sliced Stuffed Green Olives
 
1 Slice Monterey Jack Cheese

Instructions
Brown ground beef in large skillet, stirring until crumbly. Add onions and saute until tender.
Stir in remaining ingredients except olives and cheese. Add half the olives. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Spoon into 2-quart casserole dish. Top with cheese and remaining olives. Broil until cheese is melted.

Serving Suggestions
Better the next day. Do NOT omit the green olives! We use several pieces of American cheese but cheddar or other cheese can be used.
