Melt one tablespoon of shortening in a skillet then saute the onions in hot shortening until brow. Soak the bread crumbs in water and cream. Then add the meats, egg, onions and seasonings. Mix until smooth. Shape into walnut sized balls. Fry the balls in the remaining shortening until evenly browned. While frying, be sure to continuously shake the pan. Use the pan drippings to make gravy.
