Prepare a medium hot grill or turn on the broiler and place the rack in the uppermost part of the oven. Brush both sides of each piece of bread with the oil adn place on a tray. Place the bread on the grill and grill on both sides, until lightly toasted, or broil to a light golden color. Brush one side of each piece of hot toast with the cut side of the garlic. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
